The first survey on the online reputation of Italian PDOs and PGIs is out. Carlo Siffredi, President of the PDO Riviera Ligure Oil Protection Consortium: “Through our contest we invest on young people and Social Media”

More than 6,500 contents daily shared worldwide through blogs, forums, websites and social networks. 55% interactions from foreign countries, more than 100,000 people engaged per day. These are the main figures from the WEB DOP survey, the first to investigate the digital reputation of Italian PDOs and PGIs. Carried out by the Qualivita Foundation, the 9-month research analyzes the online performances of PDOs and PGI sas well as the web and digital marketing initiatives of Protection Consortia. Consortia operate both B2C (64%) and B2B (46%), Facebook still representing their mainstream channel.

“This survey provides useful guidelines fit to help us deal with the fast evolving universe of communication”, says Carlo Siffredi, President of the PDO Riviera Ligure Oil Protection Consortium. “Furthermore, it confirms the effectiveness of innovative initiatives – such as the Contest we designed on occasion of our hotel high schools tasting seminars: students create recipes and videos which will be shared through a social media campaign”.
